Club Projects for 2008-09
1) The
Club will host a book discussion in conjunction with “One Book, One
Community.” The event will be held on November 11 at the Erlanger
Branch of the library. Other woman’s clubs will be invited to attend.
2)
The
Club will adopt a family at Christmas, the family to be chosen by the
Youth Service Center at Tichenor. Members will be asked to provide
gifts for the family and bring them to the December meeting. We may
also want to provide the family with a basket at Easter.
3) The
club will participate in and support the “One to One”, a coaching
program of the Partnership for Successful Schools in Kentucky. This
program matches a student struggling with reading with a volunteer who
meets with the child once a week at the child’s school. It provides the
child with an opportunity to practice reading and gain self-confidence.
The volunteer commits to the program for one school year after attending
a six hour training session.
4) The
Bettie Carter Morgan Woman’s Club approves volunteer hours and
contributions for members’ involvement in the following activities: St.
Elizabeth Hospital volunteering, United Christian Volunteers, Lloyd
Alumni Association, Friends of Kenton County Public Library, Youth
Service Centers, Family Resource Centers, knitting and quilting for the
needy, Boone County Extension Service and the Council on Aging. The
motion carried. The Club will continue its support for the United
Christian Volunteers (see below).
United
Christian Volunteers (UCV)
Members are encouraged
to bring the non-perishable food items, personal hygiene or school
supplies to the monthly meetings as our contribution to UCV, or our
representative from the Volunteers may make special requests of the
members. If you wish, you could also make a monetary donation to take
care of the year instead of monthly contributions. In this difficult
economic time, contributions of food are particularly welcome and
needed. Please contribute to the best of your ability.
